Multiple people are currently recovering after a plane reportedly crashed into a Colorado home’s front yard late last week.
According to the Arvada Police Department, a small aircraft crashed in the area of Oberson and Carr. The media was reportedly staged on the northeast corner of W. 62nd Ave. and Carr.
“Two adults and two juveniles have been transported to local hospitals with injury,” the police department further reported. It also shared a photo of the completely destroyed aircraft in the front of the Colorado home.
In a post on Facebook, the Arvada Fire Department shared more details about the accident.
“[On Friday] at approximately 9:30 a.m., Arvada Fire and several agencies responded to an aviation emergency near Oberon Road and Brentwood Street,” the post reads. “A small passenger plane had crashed and caught fire while coming to rest in a resident’s front yard.”
The Arvada continued to share, “Arvada Fire crews immediately performed fire suppression and patient care to four victims, who have been transported to a local hospital.”
FOX31 further reported that the plane had burst into flames after crashing. Alex Lemishko, a senior accident investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board, stated that the injuries sustained during the crash did include burns.
Arvada Fire also stated that the plane’s pilot had called into a Jefferson County air traffic control tower and asked for an emergency landing after seeing a low oil pressure light. Within a matter of minutes, the pilot called back and reported extreme power loss. It was then the pilot revealed that he and his passengers were not going to make it. He explained that they would have to “put it down” somewhere.
The tower lost contact with the plane not long after.
Colorado Neighborhood Quickly Assists Authorities Following Plane Crash in Front Yard
Meanwhile, several of those living near the plane crash location reportedly sprang into action to help those who were in the aircraft.
FOX31 reported that witnesses said neighbors were able to pull the plane’s occupants out.
One of the neighbors, Randy Hamrick, told the media outlet that he and his wife were inside their home at the time. They thought a train had derailed from nearby tracks.
“We saw the explosion and the glow from the outside and said, well, wait a second,” Hamrick explained. He then thought the house had collapsed. “It felt like it was falling in. I mean, it was just that violent.”
No one in the Colorado home was hurt.
It was also reported that the Arvada Police Department, Colorado, and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded and were on the scene of the plane crash.
