Bent Mejding, a beloved Danish actor, stage director, and theatre manager., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12. He was 87 years old.

Actress and Mejding’s wife, Susse Wold, confirmed the news. “I am filled with sorrow and tears,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “But also with profound gratitude that for 53 years I was fortunate enough to be married to my life partner, my lover.”
Wold continued by stating, “Believing in something greater than oneself is a decision. I’ve decided to believe that Bent will still protect me even though he’s not physically here anymore. I want to carry him with me through a life of art and movement, and never stop loving him.”
Bent Mejding’s wife then noted, “Things are hard right now, so I’ll pray for peace and quiet. I know you will respect that. Thank you for that.”
Susse Wold further stated that Bent Mejding passed away from severe pneumonia.
Bent Mejding first went into acting in the late-1950s. He won a Danish Film Academy Award in 1985 and 2007. Among his roles included The Musketeers, Lykkens Musikanter, The Olsen Gang See Red, Brothers, and Twist and Shout.
He founded Ungdommens Teater and managed Det Ny Teater.

Following the news that Bent Mejding suddenly passed away from severe pneumonia, fans took to Susse Wold’s post to pay tribute to the late actor.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of Bent Mejding’s passing,” one fan wrote. “A legend in Danish theater and film, whose talent and dedication have enriched us through decades. He is leaving an irreplaceable imprint on Danish culture. All my warmest thoughts are with Susse and the family at this difficult time. Bent will be missed, but his art will live on.”
Anothr fan also wrote, “Had the great pleasure of serving you at the Frederiksberg Centre a little over 20 years ago. Bent had to have a suit and the whole twice I had you guys for about an hour each time. Never forgot the episode, because you guys were simply the sweetest, funniest, kindest and most loving people. Condolences to you and the family.”
Fans then gave condolences to Wold. “Unfortunately, with great love comes great grief,” an admirer of Mejding’s work wrote to Wold. I am sure that God will soon open a window and when the time is right you will begin a healing where you feel embraced by your mutual love. I send my condolences to you.”
