National Film award winning actress Anjana, also known as Anjana Sultana and Anjana Rahman, has passed away at the age of 60.

According to Times of India, the actress had a mild fever, but her health soon began to deteriorate causing her to have to be hospitalized. Doctors found that Anjana was suffering from a blood infection, which sent her to the CCU.
In a report by bdnews24.com, it was stated that Anjana was placed on a ventilator and was not responding well to other treatments. Some of the setbacks the actress suffered included “fluid in her lungs, elevated creatinine levels, and a stroke.”
Times of India sadly confirmed the actress’ passing, stating that she died on Saturday Jan. 4th at 1:10 a.m. at a hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The beloved actress and dancer starred in over 300 films, such as Parineeta and Gangchil. Anjana’s fans, family and friends shared their love and condolences following the actress’ passing.
“Apart from being a good artist, she was an incredibly good person; and we will miss her lively and smiling face,” Misha Sawdagar, Bangladesh Film Artists Association President told UNB. “Everyone will pray for the forgiveness of her departed soul.”
A peer of Anjana also shared some kind words, “We have been together for a long time – we were like two sisters. We last met on December 6 – and right now, I feel void thinking that we will not meet ever again.”
Sabina Yasmin, singer and close friend of Anjana, reflected on her relationship with the late actress. “We were friends with the same hearts,” Yasmin said.
She continued, “We remained close even after growing up. I sang, and she acted as a heroine. Whenever we went abroad for events, we stood out. We always stayed and travelled together. Our hearts were inseparable.”
