Baldwin appeared on the Fall Better With David Duchovny podcast earlier this week and revealed his legal woes about the shooting are far from over.
“We have more s*** that’s gonna come out in ensuring legal filings and so forth,” Baldwin explained. “These last three years, people have just dined out.”
Alec Baldwin then spoke about how the Rust shooting impacted him personally.
“In this country, when people hate you on that level, they want three things: They want you to die. They want you to go to prison,” Baldwin shared. “And the third thing is they want you canceled, which is like being in prison or being dead. Because you roam the earth, and you’re invisible.”
Baldwin then told Duchovny he was ready to share more details about what led to the infamous film set incident.
“There’s more to come, but the more to come is now my effort,” he continued. “And it’s going to be undeniably a successful effort to raise and to expose what really happened.”
Baldwin added that the truth of what happened has “never been told.”
In October 2021, while on the western film’s set, Baldwin was instructed to hold a prop gun while filming, unaware there were live rounds in the weapon. As he was holding it, the gun accidentally went off. A bullet struck and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. It also injured the film’s director, Joel Souza.
Baldwin was charged with manslaughter and stood trial for the charges in July 2024. The judge dismissed the case three days into the trial upon learning the prosecutors withheld evidence from the defense.
Alec Baldwin Said He Was ‘Happy About’ Having Work Come His Way After ‘Rust’ Manslaughter Trial Ended
Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin told David Duchovny that he was happy about having acting work after the Rust manslaughter trial ended.
“I’ve also enjoyed the fact that there’s so much of this case that is not known because we didn’t have a full trial,” he pointed out.
Baldwin then said he owed his wife Hilaria “everything” for her unwavering support during his legal struggles.
“She is the most spiritually ascended human being I’ve ever met,” the longtime actor said. “And she was kind to me and supportive of me. She was frustrated.”
Baldwin noted that his wife was in pain and suffered tremendously as he fought for his innocence.
“You’re a guy, you fall in love with somebody, and you’re like, ‘What can I do to make my wife safe?'” Baldwin added. “And I couldn’t do anything to stop what was happening to me.”
