The documentary notably investigated the mental and physical abuse that several members of Nickelodeon’s production team inflicted on the child actors. Among those who committed the alleged abuse was famed producer Dan Schneider.
Many of the former child stars spoke out against Schneider and dialogue coach, Brian Peck. However, one former child actress who was noticeably absent from the documentary was Amanda Bynes.
Sources told TMZ that while Bynes and her parents, Rick and Lynn, were approached to do the documentary, all three opted out from participating. One source even shared that Amanda, who is not planning to watch the documentary, declined because she felt she didn’t have the same experience.
Other sources further pointed out that Amanda Bynes is grateful for her time at Nickelodeon. She also notably acknowledged the network experience led to the launch of her acting career.
Meanwhile, the media outlet was told that Amanda’s parents are private. They also want to keep out of the spotlight. However, unlike their daughter, they did watch the documentary. Sources say they are both saddened and disgusted by the allegations.
The family did note that Amanda Bynes did not experience what the other former child actors experienced. This is why they felt it didn’t make sense for them to participate in the documentary.
Among those who participated in the documentary was fellow The Amanda Show star Drake Bell. He revealed that he was sexually abused by Brian Peck, who Nickelodeon hired in the early 2000s. Bell was responsible for Peck being arrested and sentenced to prison for his crimes.
Amanda Bynes Revealed Her Favorite Acting Role
Just before Quiet on Set made its debut, Amanda Bynes revealed her all-time favorite acting role. “I would probably say What I Like About You,” she explained in a Cameo.
“That TV show was super fun. I loved working with Jennie Garth and Leslie Grossman, Wesley Jonathan, and Simon Rex. It was such a great experience.”
Amanda Bynes first started acting in the late 90s. Her first show was All That before she earned her very own show, The Amanda Show. After her show came to an end in 2002, Bynes went on to start acting on the big screen.
Her first film was Big Fat Liar. Other films she appeared in are What a Girl Wants, Love Wrecked, She’s the Man, Hairspray, and Easy A.
In 2010, Bynes stepped away from acting and had a few run-ins with the law. She also struggled mentally. However, she has grown and claims to be a much better place. She is currently in school to become a nail tech.
