Taylor-Joy had folks keeping their hands in their pockets on the red carpet, donning a striking transparent gold dress adorned with oversized spikes, at the premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in Sydney, Australia, on Thursday.
The New Mutants alum graced the red carpet donning a minidress adorned in gold and silver, complemented by a headpiece featuring arrow-like spikes. This ensemble also echoed the gold, metallic color theme prevalent in the promotional materials for her forthcoming Mad Max prequel.
As reported by People magazine, the dress is from the spring/summer 1996 collection by Ryan Hastings and Paco Rabanne.
Anya Taylor-Joy Offered a Behind the Scenes Look as Her Getting Ready for the ‘Furiosa’ Premiere
Meanwhile, on Friday, Anya offered a glimpse into the ensemble’s assembly process by posting on her Instagram Stories an image of herself preparing for the grand evening.
In the photograph, Anya appears topless, strategically positioning her arms across her chest, as her makeup artist meticulously applies a stunning smokey-eye look. Additionally, the dramatic gold chainmail headpiece, adorned with protruding arrows is already in place.
In the movie, Anna Taylor-Joy plays Furiosa, originally portrayed by Charlize Theron in Fury Road. The prequel delves into Furiosa’s life following her abduction from the Green Place of Many Mothers by a Biker Horde under the command of Warlord Dementus (Hemsworth). Caught in a power struggle with Fury Road‘s tyrant, Immortan Joe, Furiosa battles not only for survival but also for a chance to return home.
Furiosa, filmed in New South Wales, is anticipated to be the largest movie ever produced in Australia. The filming concluded in September 2022.
George Miller, the visionary behind the Mad Max franchise, once again takes the helm as director and co-writer for Furiosa. Miller characterized the prequel as a ‘saga’ to unfold over 15 years, in stark contrast to Fury Road‘s narrative, which took place over three days.
Warner Bros. is set to release Furiosa in the U.S. on May 24.
