On Instagram, the actor and singer shared a rare moment of Grande on the balcony of their London hotel room, gracefully holding a bouquet of soft pink balloons. The candid snapshot seems to show the pop star wearing only an oversized T-shirt, her back to the camera as she gazes out at the London skyline while standing on her tiptoes.
Shortly after the announcement of the full list of Oscar nominations on Thursday morning, Grande also shared the post on her own Instagram Story. Of course, Grande and Slater’s fans rushed to the comments to lavish praise on their favorite couple.
“Absolutely thrillifying,” one onlooker wrote. “Sobbing,” a second, totally well-adjusted fan added.
Another fan noted the balloons, writing, “Ahhhh!!! But also this is the only adaptation of “it” I would ever watch,” referencing Stephen King’s killer clown Pennywise’s affection for red balloons.
The 31-year-old earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Glinda the Good Witch in the 2024 film directed by Jon M. Chu. The star-studded cast also includes Slater as Boq, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz.
In addition to Grande’s nomination, Wicked earned an impressive 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Original Score, Best Costume Design, and Best Visual Effects, among other accolades.
Ariana Grande Shared a Sweet Throwback Pic After Her Oscar Nomination
Grande also shared her excitement on Instagram Thursday, celebrating the prestigious honor with a heartfelt post. The update featured a collection of photos, including a charming childhood snapshot of her dressed as Dorothy.
“Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to The Academy for this unfathomable recognition,” she wrote alongside the sweet snap. “I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise.”
Grande told fans she was “humbled and honored” to be nominated alongside other “brilliant” actors. She also gave special recognition to Chu, who didn’t receive a Best Director nomination, calling him an “unbelievably brilliant leader” and “fierce friend.”
“I am so deeply proud of my beautiful Wicked family,” she added.
