According to court documents obtained by People, the finalization of the divorce came nearly 20 weeks after Lopez filed for the dissolution. Neither she nor Affleck requested spousal support. The attorney’s fees are to be split.
The “exact nature” of their community, quasi-community assets, and separate property and obligations are “unknown” and “will be determined.”
Lopez filed for divorce without an attorney on Aug. 20, the second anniversary of her and Affleck’s extravagant wedding ceremony, at the Los Angeles County Superior Court. She had listed Apr. 26 as their official date of separation. They did not have a prenuptial agreement.
At the time, a source stated that the now exes finalized the divorce papers in July 2024. However, they were waiting for the “right time” to drop them.
“At that time, they will release a joint statement that will say how they have much love for each other,” the insider said. “And how they fought to make it work but couldn’t. Honestly, in the end, they could not come to a compromise. What they had before is gone, and they have both accepted it.”
The couple never released a statement about their split.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were previously engaged in the early 2000s but called it quits in 2003. They rekindled their romance in 2021 and were married in a small Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022. They had their big Georgia wedding a month later.
A Source Recently Stated Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Are Expected to Stay In Contact Following Divorce
Last month, a source revealed that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck will “stay in contact” despite their divorce.
“They have every intention of continuing to be in each other’s lives despite not being romantically involved,” an insider shared. “Ben and Jennifer are still connected and they do communicate when it involves their kids.”
The source further noted that despite their split, Affleck and Lopez have a “mutual respect for one another,” which is “not something that goes away” overnight.
“Obviously, things haven’t been the same, but they have a lot of history,” the insider said.
However, another source said that Lopez and Affleck had limited their communication amid the divorce proceedings.
“The two of them speak, but it is limited unless it revolves around their kids,” the second insider explained. “They are living their own lives, focusing on work and doing what’s best for their families.”
Ben Affleck shares three children, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Jennifer Lopez has her twins, Max and Emme, 16, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
