According to IMDb, Mufasa follows the origin story of Simba’s late father. The film follows the story of Mufasa’s rise to King of the Pride Lands. Also during the film, Simba helps his cub to follow in his paw prints to eventually become the leader of the Pride Lands.
Blue Ivy Carter is to play the role of Kiara, Simba’s daughter. Starring in the upcoming movie with Carter are Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Seth Organ, Billy Eichner, and Donald Glover. Beyonce is also reprising her role as Nala.
PEOPLE also reported that Mufasa will feature songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The new trailer declares, “This story begins far beyond the mountains and the shadows, on the other side of the light.”
Director Barry Jenkins also told the media outlet that he was inspired by Beyonce while working on the film. “[Watching Beyonce] both on the screen and behind the screen, get to be a mother – and how that affected and impacted for the better the work that we were all doing – was just really awesome.”
Mufasa will roar into theaters on Dec. 20.
Jay Z Previously Spoke About How Blue Ivy Carter Sees Him, Their Home Life
During an interview on CBS Mornings last fall, Jay Z opened up about Blue Ivy Carter and how she sees her famous parents while home.
“Blue, she’s been fronting on me a little bit,” the rapper stated about his eldest daughter. “But I catch her in the corner. You know now she asks me if I think this is cool, like my opinion on the sneakers she’s wearing. She’s come back.”
However, Jay Z also stated his daughter does treat him like a normal dad as well. “There was a time where she was like, ‘Dad!’ I was like, ‘I’m cool!’ I don’t know what you’re saying. At your house, your parents are cool!”
Jay Z also spoke about the criticism Blue Ivy Carter experienced after she performed on stage during her mother’s Renaissance World Tour.
“She’s been born into a life she didn’t ask for,” the famed rapper stated. “So since she was born, she’s been in scrutiny and the public eye and everyone having an opinion of even a little girl, how she keeps her hair. So for her to be on that stage and reclaim her power, and the song is called My Power, you can’t write a better script.”
