Per Rolling Stone, her new hit single Texas Hold Em has officially charted on Billboard. She is the first black woman to ever top Billboard’s country music category.
“Beyoncé has become the first Black woman artist ever to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart in the modern history of country music, thanks to her country debut “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which also opened at Number Two on the Hot 100, the publication announced on Tuesday,” Rolling Stone wrote.
Music Executive Thrilled About New Beyoncé Music
Everything that Beyoncé has touched throughout her career has seemingly turned into gold. So most would assume that this time around would be no different. But not everyone is thrilled about her transition into country music. Following the release of her single Variety reported that some music executives were ‘bullish’ about her entering into the country music space. But Brian Philips, chief content officer at Cumulus Media, is all in on Act II.
“Everything’s ubiquitous, everything’s available. I don’t care who services what. I go on the internet and there it is. That means I’ve been serviced if I can find a WAV file! I don’t care what their marketing plan is. If somebody at Sony made a miscalculation that country wouldn’t be interested in this that was a mistake,” Phillips said.
“It just sounded to me like it hit that Dixie Chicks chord of kind of fun, hand-clapping reckless abandon, and it just sounded like a natural country song to me. I’ll be very surprised if there’s any backlash, except from very old, calcified country fans who say, ‘Well, I came here to hear a George Strait song, not this hand-clapping, woo-woo-woo business.”
Taylor Swift Could Appear on Act Two
Act Two of Beyonce’s Renaissance series pays homage to country music. How explosive would it be for her to collaborate with Nashville’s own Taylor Swift?
It could be a possibility. TMZ spoke with Beyoncé’s producer Killah B. When they asked him about the potential of hearing Swift on the new project, the producer didn’t say yes. But he did leave the door open.
“Let’s just say she’s on the approach of shocking the world,” he said.
