Sources close to the incident revealed to PEOPLE that the actress was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital after experiencing a medical issue during the Springs Food Pantry’s E.A.T. in the Hidden Gardens 2024 event on Saturday, July 13. The charity event was held at the Corbett Estate in East Hampton, New York.
“It was early on in the event and she sat there for a while as they took her vitals,” the insider explained. “It didn’t look that bad, but they took her away anyway.”
Details about what led to the medical incident remain unknown.
Meanwhile, a rep from Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand, Goop, also told the media outlet that Blythe Danner is “completely fine” following the medical incident. The actress’ rep further confirmed that she was “absolutely OK.”
The media outlet further reported that Danner was previously diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma. This is described as a relatively rare form of oral cancer. It often develops in the salivary glands.
Danner spoke about the diagnosis with PEOPLE in 2022, referring to it as a “sneaky disease.”
“But I’m fine and dandy now,” she insisted. “And I’m lucky to be alive.”
Following multiple surgeries and years of researching alternative treatments, the actress underwent surgery in 2020 that removed all the cancerous tissue.
