Famous chef and Hells Kitchen alum, Gordon Ramsay, 57, owns dozens of restaurants across the globe and has earned seven Michelin stars. There’s no doubt he knows everything there is to know about fine cuisine, so fans and critics alike were surprised to hear him declare that this one dish should be avoided at all costs when dining out.
And that dish is none other than: The Soup of The Day.
In an interview with Town & Country, Ramsay explained that eateries often use old produce, but “dress it up” as a special dish.
“Ask what yesterday’s soup du jour was before today’s special. It may be the case that it’s the soup du month.”
In that same interview, the father of six also said that he usually asks waiters and waitresses for guidance when he visits new restaurants.
“It really depends on the restaurants, but servers tend to taste most of the dishes on the menu and can give you insight to what the chef has added or what locals love,” the Kitchen Nightmares star said.
“Being on the road, I’ve gotten a lot of great recommendations from servers.”
This may seem like a no brainer to him, but lots of people love a good bowl of soup. Some may be hesitant on taking any advice from Ramsay after his troubling financial advice from a previous podcast.
Are you still going to go with the soup next time you eat out?
