As previously reported, Travis Kelce was seen yelling and shoving Andy Reid on the filed after Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco lost a fumble. Kelce was eventually pulled away from Reid by running back Jerick McKinnon.
Following the Chiefs’ 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, Reid had a good laugh during a post-game interview with CBS about the incident. “He keeps me young,” Reid said about Kelce. The coach also said Kelce tested out his hip. “He caught me off balance – normally, I’d give him a little bit, but I didn’t have any feet under me.”
Andy Reid turned the incident better when and Travis Kelce into a positive. The head coach continued to praise Kelce for his love of the game. “He wants to help his team win,” Reid continued. “It’s not a selfish thing, that’s not what it is, and I understand that. So as much as he bumps into me, I get after him and we understand that.”
Andy Reid further discussed how passionate his players are. “I love that, even if they chest bump me to the other side of the 50. I appreciate it.”
Reid went on to add, “I just love that the guy wants to play and wants to be in there playing.”
Travis Kelce Declares He Owes Andy Reid His Entire Career
Meanwhile, Travis Kelce also spoke out about the incident. “I was just telling him how much I love him,” Kelce said jokingly.
He praised Reid for everything he has done. “He’s unbelievable at not only dialing up plays and having everybody prepared, but he’s one of the best leaders of men I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Travis Kelce went on to add that he owes Andy Reid his entire career. “Being able to kind of control how emotional I get,” he added. “I just love him, man.”
Although it seemed like the duo were fine following the intense exchange, X users were quick to share their concerns. “Yeah they won the Super Bowl, but I lost even more respect for Kelce and lost some respect for Andy as a coach,” an X user said.
“There is no excuse for Travis Kelce to physically and verbally attack 65 year old Andy Reid, Kansas City’s Head Coach,” another wrote.
