Fairouz Ai, a Japanese voice actress, recently revealed that she had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Ai opened up about her mental health struggles after her agency, Racoon Dog, announced she was taking a hiatus as she recovered.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support,” the agency’s statement reads. “We would like to inform you that Fairouz Ai, a member of our company, has developed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and under the guidance of her doctor, we have decided that recovery should take priority and will therefore be restricting some of her activities.”
After fans sought answers, Fairouz Ai spoke out about her post-traumatic stress.
“As mentioned on my agency’s website, I was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) a few months ago,” Ai shared in a statement. This was per a translation posted on JoJo’s Bizarre Encyclopedia. “Wanting to meet the expectations and feelings of support I’ve received, I have worked hard over the past few months.”
Ai then said that she was determined to focus on treatment and recovering both physically and mentally. She reaffirmed that she will limit some of her activities for now.
“As the cause of my condition is a private matter,” she then continued. “I kindly ask that you refrain from prying or speculating about it.”
The voice actress also apologized for any “concern and inconvenience” her recovery may cause. However, her main priority is still her health.
“I will do my best to recover physically and mentally so that I can stand before you all again in good health,” Ai pointed out. “I would be delighted if you could continue to cherish the characters and works.”
Along with Jojo, Ai has voiced characters on Pokémon and Dragon Ball. She also appeared on Fire Emblem and Genshin Impact.

Meanwhile, the ABEMA voice actor variety show Say You to Yo Asobi reassigned Fairouz Ai’s role as the Friday MC following her post-traumatic stress disorder diagnosis.
JoJo’s Bizarre Encyclopedia revealed Nobuhiko Okamoto, the voice actor of Ghiaccio) will replace Ai. She will join Tomokazu Seki, the voice actor of Enrico Pucci, as co-host.
“Regarding Fairouz Ai, starting with the January broadcasts, she will be taking a hiatus from appearing on the program,” the show confirmed. “Nobuhiko Okamoto will serve as her substitute MC.”
