On Wednesday, TMZ revealed that 25-year-old Paul faced a felony drug possession charge stemming from his arrest in Miami in March. The report also delves into discussions about the potential impact of this charge on ongoing federal investigations involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Paul’s attorney, Brian Bieber, issued a concise statement concerning the charge against Diddy’s assistant. “We will be dealing with this case in the courtroom, not the court of public opinion,” the lawyer told TMZ.
Last month, Paul was apprehended at Opa Locka Airport in Miami following the interception of Diddy‘s private jet by federal agents. He faced arrest on charges of possessing what is believed to be cocaine and a caddy suspected to contain marijuana. In Florida, both charges are classified as felonies.
Allegation Against Diddy’s Supposed Drug Mule Started with Lil Rod’s Lawsuit
The allegations of “mule” activities originate from a lawsuit lodged by Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr., where it is claimed that Paul’s role for Diddy involved procuring and distributing “drugs and guns” on Diddy’s behalf.
Of course, Diddy has been the subject of several lawsuits in recent months and denied the allegations against him. In an earlier statement, his lawyer, Shawn Holley, labeled Rod “a liar.” He also suggested that financial interests drove his motivations in the case.
“Lil Rod is nothing more than a liar. [He] filed a $30 million lawsuit shamelessly looking for an undeserved payday,” Holley explained. “His reckless name-dropping about events that are pure fiction.”
“[It’s] nothing more than a transparent attempt to garner headlines. We have overwhelming, indisputable proof that his claims are complete lies. Our attempts to share this proof with Mr. Jones’ attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, have been ignored.”
“Mr. Blackburn refuses to return our calls. We will address these outlandish allegations in court and take all appropriate action against those who make them.”
Last December, Combs announced on social media that he was ready to push back against the allegations. “Enough is enough. For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy.”
“Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”
