DJ Akademiks has found himself in a bit of legal hot water. A woman is suing the podcaster for both sexual assault as well as defamation.

DJ Akademiks has made a name for himself in the hip-hop landscape. He’s often wedged himself in feuds between figures in the industry. For instance, he’s been involved in the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud.
According to the Rolling Stone, DJ Akademiks’s ex Fauziya “Ziya” Abashe is suing the YouTuber. DJ Akademiks and Abashe dated in 2021 after meeting online.
According to the lawsuit, DJ Akademiks invited her to his New Jersey house on July 16, 2022. She said it had been about a year since she seen him. While there, she said two anonymous men drugged her drink and then sexually assaulted her on DJ Akademiks’s pool deck.
DJ Akademiks’ Ex Speaks Out Amid Lawsuit
She said she lost consciousness and didn’t wake up until 4 a.m. Abashe said that DJ Akademiks was in the process of sexually assaulting her.
She said she was “crying for most of this assault but losing her ability to move physically.” DJ Akademiks allegedly refused to stop despite her begging. The lawsuit goes into more graphic detail about the assault.
Afterward, she alleges that he filmed the assault on the pool deck. He allegedly played her the encounter. The podcaster suggested that she go get tested for sexually transmitted disease following the encounter.
Instead, she said she went straight to the police and got a rape kit performed. The tests confirm genetic material from DJ Akademiks. Likewise, she said that police took photos of her bruising. She also claims to have he admitting the assault on a recorded phone call.
However, she chose not to press charges. But on social media, he allegedly bragged about the sault. In a video from December 30, 2023, Allen said Abashe “was getting trained by my two mens on my pool deck.”
She is suing the YouTuber for defamation because he implied that she was a willing participant. However, she denies this being the case. In a statement, Abashe said, “I’m confident that justice will prevail and the veil will be removed so no other woman will have to endure what I did.”
