In a post on Instagram, Elton John shared that his limited eye vision stems from the infection he had over the summer.
“I am healing,” John stated. “But it’s an extremely slow process and will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”
Elton John also wrote that he was so grateful for the team of doctors and nurses, as well as his family, who took care of him over the past several weeks.
“I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home,” he continued. “And am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far.”
Fans and celebrities alike quickly took to the post’s comment section to show support for the “Rocket Man” hitmaker. “Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you,” famed fashion designer Donatella Versace wrote.
Billy Joel also shared, “Get Well Soon” while Al Roker wrote, “You are pure light and pray that light helps heal that eye We love you, Sir Elton.”
Elton John Suffered a Fall At His France Estate in 2023
John’s latest eye infection comes a year after he was hospitalized for “a slip” while at his Mont Boron villa outside of Nice, France.
His rep released a statement about the ordeal. “Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,” they shared at the time. “Following check-ups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health.”
Another fall caused John to postpone some of his 2021 tour dates to 2023. The incident left his hip in “considerable pain and discomfort,” despite him undergoing physio and specialist treatment. Following the surgery, he had limited mobility.
“I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness,” he shared in a statement. “And make sure there are no long-term complications.”
John continued by sharing that he would be undertaking a program of intensive physio that would ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without any pain. He also stated that he was going to complete the charitable Global Citizen event later that month as he didn’t want to let the charity down.
“Being just five songs it’s very different physically undertaking,” he shared. “To the demands of playing for close to three hours every night on tour and traveling overnight between countries. After this, I will be having the operation to ensure the tour can get back on the road.”
