During a sit down with PEOPLE, Anderson opened up about how his marriage to Blanchard was after she was released from prison in late 2023. She was previously serving time for her part in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. After eight years, Gypsy was granted parole.
Anderson claimed that everything was good between him and Gypsy Rose Blanchard after she left the Chillicothe Correctional Center.
“I loved our first night together when I picked her up from the prison, and it was just me and her. Those are the moments I cherish. I was just happy Gypsy was home. A lot was going on but it was just great to have her in the room with you.”
However, Blanchard’s estranged husband said things quickly changed. He said that the “lowest part” of the couple’s short-term marriage occurred when both of them ended up with COVID in February.
By the end of March, Ryan Anderson and Gypsy Rose Blanchard were heading towards the big split. One of Blanchard’s friends even stated they had a bad fight.
In the upcoming docuseries Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, the former spouses were seen arguing about Gypsy’s friendship with Ken Urker, whom she’s now dating.
Despite the arguments, Anderson said he didn’t see the divorce coming. “I’m blindsided by how fast events took place,” he admitted. “I’ve done a lot of reflection and I look back at that argument.”
“We were going through a lot. We just got into an argument and that was it. It turned out that was the last time Gypsy was really here. I’ve only seen her one time after that.”
Ryan Anderson Expected Ken Urker to ‘Pop Up’ at Some Point After Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Prison Release
Meanwhile, Ryan Anderson stated that he wasn’t surprised that Ken Urker quickly entered the picture after Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison.
“Honestly, I feel like he was going to pop up at some point,” Anderson said. “He was going to rear his head in some way, and at some point, we’d have to deal with this.”
He then said, “As far as the snowball effect it just happened so fast. I’m still processing things.”
Anderson further addressed some gossip circulating about his marriage to Gypsy Rose. He claimed that he is not controlling, despite what sources have said.
“I’m not a controlling person. You can see Gypsy does whatever she wants,” Anderson stated, “I didn’t check her phone, my name popped up and I looked at one text message with my name in it. That was the only thing.”
Although restraining orders have been filed, Anderson declared that they were “procedural” and the arguments he and Gyspy Rose had were in no way violent. “I haven’t been deemed dangerous. Gypsy and I can see each other, the restraining order is just standard.”
He went on to add that he truly misses Gypsy Rose. “Of course I do. But I have to focus on myself. I have to keep living.”
