Police responded to a home in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, on Saturday. There, they found Cathleen Lesniak, 59, with fatal, gun-related injuries and her husband, George Lesniak, 63, who appeared to have a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot injury.
The couple both worked with cars. George was a vice president of training for Autel Automotive Intelligence USA, according to his LinkedIn and Facebook pages. Cathleen was employed as a technical production manager at Advance Auto Parts, according to her Facebook page.
That connection is eerie in light of where George posted his alleged confession. He was a member of a Facebook group called “ADAS Support.” The group’s page says it is “dedicated to helping and supporting technicians who perform ADAS calibrations.” ADAS stands for “Advanced driver-assistance system.”
In a post captured in screenshots, George wrote, “My wife admitted to cheating on me so I killed her. I’m about to kill myself. Figure this group out for your selves [sic].”
The post reportedly went live around 6:00 p.m.. Minutes later, police arrived at the Lesniak house and found the couple’s bodies. The Lesniaks had been married for 34 years, according to their Facebook profiles.
George Lesniak Reportedly Posted a Confession to Facebook Before Turning the Gun on Himself
Autel officials posted a statement about the shooting on their company Facebook page.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occured at the Lesniak residence on January 18,” the statement read. “We at Autel express our heartfelt condolences to the Lesniak family and friends.”
In a press release, police said that the investigation is ongoing. They assured, however, that there is no threat to public safety.
“This incident is deeply tragic, and we urge the community to keep the family in their thoughts during this challenging time,” the release continued.
