The former NFL star took to social media to apologize and clear up any confusion.
I’m sorry everyone, wasn’t trying to get people riled up, I really thought it was just known that in the 70s steroid use was rampant. I’m not trying to take away from Secretariat’s, or anyone from that eras legacy. You’re right, without proof it is unfair to assume these things…

Jason Kelce Apologizes For Secretariat Comments
“I’m sorry everyone, wasn’t trying to get people riled up. I really thought it was just known that in the ‘70s steroid use was rampant,” Kelce, 36, wrote via X, formerly known as Twitter, on May 9.
“I’m not trying to take away from Secretariat, or anyone from that era’s legacy. You’re right, without proof, it is unfair to assume these things publicly, I apologize.”
Kelce Claimed Secretariat Was ‘Juiced to The Gills’
The debacle occurred on Jason and his brother, Travis Kelce’s, New Heights podcast. Travis had an action-packed weekend to kick off May He was a guest at two of the year’s most star-studded events. The Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami and the Kentucky Derby in Louisville.
When the brothers began to discuss Travis’ trip to the Derby it brought up the topic of horse racing. And Jason began to list all of Secretariat’s accolades.
“All major speed records are still held by Secretariat who set them in 1973,” Jason said.
Travis then responded to all of the prize horse’s accolades as “wild”
Jason then shut down Travis’ claim because he believed Secretariat was “juiced to the gills.”
“It’s not that wild because Secretariat was juiced to the gills. Secretariat just happens to be right in the heart of the steroid era, 1973,” Jason said.
“Every NFL player, every baseball player, they were juicing them to the gills. You don’t think Secretariat was f–king juiced to the rafters?”
