Continuing to remain supportive of her ex, Jennifer Garner reportedly wants the best for Ben Affleck amid Jennifer Lopez split rumors.
Sources close to the situation revealed to PEOPLE that, despite her divorce from Affleck, Garner only hopes for the best regarding the Argo star.
“She wants him happy and healthy,” the insiders share. “So he can be the best dad possible.”
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were married from 2005 to 2018. They share three children, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. The sources say Garner does like that Lopez lives a healthy lifestyle. Lopez also supports Affleck’s sobriety. “Jen wants that for Ben,” they pointed out.
Gossip started circulating about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s marriage “woes” earlier this month. Lopez appeared at the 2024 Met Gala solo, which raised a few questions. It was then reported that Lopez and Affleck hadn’t seen together in public since early April.
However, the couple resurfaced together in mid-May, but since then, Affleck has been seen with and without his wedding band. He also missed the premiere of Lopez’s new film Atlas. Meanwhile, Lopez didn’t appear with Affleck to celebrate his daughter Violet’s high school graduation.
Sources have said the couple’s marriage isn’t in the best place. Some insiders said Affleck “came to his senses” and was preparing to divorce Lopez.
Nearly 20 years after calling off their high-profile engagement, Lopez and Affleck reunited. They got married twice in 2022.
Ben Affleck Previously Said He Was ‘Very Grateful and Respectful’ Toward Jennifer Garner
During a 2020 interview with PEOPLE, Ben Affleck was candid about his relationship with Jennifer Garner since their 2018 split. He said he was grateful and respectful of his ex-wife.
“Our marriage didn’t work, and that’s difficult,” he explained. “Both of us really believe that it’s important for kids to see their parents respect one another and get along, whether they’re together or not,” he said at the time.”
He continued to say it’s important for the children to know that he respects and cares about their mother and she treats him the same way. “I have a lot of respect and gratitude toward her. And I wish her the very best.”
Ben Affleck explained that his childhood struggles with divorce have greatly impacted how he approaches his relationship with Jennifer Garner.
“My parents got divorced when I was young and I know how painful that is,” he said. “And I knew that they [my kids] would have to go through that publicly. But kids are resilient. They appreciate the truth.”
Affleck went on to add that he and Garner are committed to co-parenting their children.
He also told The New York Times that his divorce from Garner was “the biggest regret” in his life.
