In a message on her OnTheJLo newsletter, Lopez announced some exciting news. Her sci-fi film Atlas is holding the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s English Films list. It is also the streaming service’s most-watched title for the second week in a row.
“I just found out some great news and it’s all because of YOU!!” Jennifer Lopez gushed in the message. “ATLAS is #1 worldwide again this week!!! Thank you all so much!!!”
She continued the message by stating this news isn’t overshadowed by the negativity currently out in the world. “It may seem like there’s a lot of negativity out in the world right now … but don’t let the voices of a few drown out that there is soooo much love out there,” Lopez declared. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I love you all so much.”
Jennifer Lopez produced and starred in the film as Atlas Shepard. The character is described as a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence.
The film was directed by Brad Peyton. Along with Lopez others who star in the film are Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, and Mark Strong.
Jennifer Lopez Recently Said ‘Atlas’ Does a ‘Good Job’ of Showing How AI Could Go ‘Incredibly Wrong’
Last month, Jennifer Lopez spoke about how Atlas addresses the dangers of AI usage.
“I think this movie does a good job of showing how AI could go incredibly wrong, and this is how it could go really right,” Lopez told Variety at the film’s Los Angeles premiere.”I think you should be respectful of AI…We have to be open to all possibilities. These movies that are talking about AI — especially this one — do a really good job of showing both sides.”
Sterling K. Brown, who plays a military officer fighting alongside Atlas, also spoke about Jennifer Lopez’s work ethic on the film’s set. “Moguls be moguling,” he declared. “She was talking earlier today how she has brought down her level of commitments. I would have marveled to see her at full tilt, because it looked like it was full tilt when we were together. There was always something happening.”
Despite their characters fighting each other, Brown had nothing but praise for JLo. “We had nice little side conversations between takes,” Brown added. “I asked her about being a Fly Girl [on ‘In Living Color’]. She had a few good Rosie Perez stories.”
