The 2024 season was one to remember for the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. The whole Taylor Swift dating Travis Kelce thing happened. And in the midst of all that, they won back-to-back Super Bowls.

But unfortunately for the Chiefs, their offseason has not been devoid of controversy either. First, their star wide receiver Rashee Rice found himself in legal trouble for allegedly racing cars on the highway with a group of friends. And now their veteran defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs could be in trouble, too.
Per CBS Sports Buggs is accused of animal cruelty.
Chiefs Star Isaiah Buggs Accused of Animal Cruelty
“Isaiah Buggs, a former Alabama standout and current member of the Kansas City Chiefs, has been accused of animal cruelty in Tuscaloosa, according to civil documents filed Wednesday that were obtained by Tuscaloosa Patch,” CBS Sports writes.
“Buggs is expected to receive criminal charges for the case.”
Chiefs Star Left Pets Unattended for Several Days
According to the filing Buggs owed more than $3,000 in back rent at the Tuscaloosa property. And instead of paying what he owed, he elected to leave the property.
“On March 28, police received information of dogs being left on the back porch of a home that was being rented by Buggs, who according to witnesses moved out of the home on March 19 due to owing over $3,100 in back rent,” CBS Sports added.
But Buggs did not remove all of his stuff when he moved from the property. The star lineman left several dogs on his property without adequate food or shelter. According to the police report, one of the animals had even been left in a cage. The dogs remained in that condition for at least 10 days.
“Upon arriving at the home, the City of Tuscaloosa’s Animal Control officers found a grey and white pitbull on the screened-in back porch without access to food or water,” CBS Sports added.
“They also found a black Rottweiler mix locked in a metal cage in direct sunlight without access to food or water. A neighbor told police that the dogs had been left on the back porch for at least 10 days.”
