Life as a working royal may not be the same for Kate Middleton beyond her cancer treatments.

Sources close to the royals told Us Weekly that Middleton may not be resuming her work until the fall or even next year. “Kate’s recovery is going well,” an insider confirmed. “She’s not able to see many people because she is susceptible to getting sick and they don’t want her compromised, but she’s up and about.”
Another source stated that Kate Middleton is feeling strong enough to be very involved with her and Prince Williams’ three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. “She’s been an active parent.”
Meanwhile, the Palace released a statement about Middleton’s current condition. “We have been really clear that [Kate] needs the space and privacy to recover right now,” the statement reads. “She will return to work when she has the green light from doctors.”
However, a source said that Kate Middleton’s team is “re-evaluating” what she’s going to be able to take on once she returns to her royal duties. “She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.”
Following speculation and even conspiracy theories, Kate Middleton made an official announcement on X (formerly Twitter). She confirmed that she was diagnosed with cancer. She did not reveal what type of cancer she was diagnosed with. However, she said it was discovered after an abdominal surgery in early 2024.

Sources confirmed last week that Kate Middleton will not be attending the Trooping the Colour’s dress rehearsal.
Us Weekly reports that Middleton’s role will be carried out by Lieutenant General James Bucknall, KCB, CBE. There has yet to be confirmation if she will be at the June 15 event, which celebrates the British Royal Family’s birthday
Sources also reported that Kate Middleton is doing some royal duties. Among her current duties are working with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. However, the princess continues to be on leave.
“This is a clear commitment she has made throughout her life of public service that this will be focus. That will continue when she returns to work,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson stated. “But we have been really clear that she needs the space and the privacy to recover right now. She will return to work when she has had the green light from doctors.”
