Charles and Camilla visited the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Center. King Charles has stayed in privacy the past few months, although he continued his work as monarch unseen. In February, the representatives for the Royal Family announced that he had cancer.
Charles has had few visitors, hosting only small audiences as well as greeting people at an Easter Sunday church service. The hospital in question is not responsible for Charles’ own healthcare. However, the king felt it was important to highlight the importance of the work there. A spokesperson told People, the king visited “in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”
Likewise, Charles also greeted the public as well, responding with a wave to those asking him how he felt. The king appeared happy and jovial. Charles also met with hospital staff as well.
“I felt pleased for the King,” loyal royalist John Loughrey, 69, told People. “For me, it’s nice to see him back, and we all missed him. He’s come here today to see people who’ve got cancer and show that he — and they’re — not alone.”
King Charles hasn’t revealed what kind of cancer that he has yet. Representatives for the king stressed that his appearance showed that you can work and have cancer. Charles is leading by example and wants to highlight the good work that the hospital is doing.
King Charles Promotes Cancer Awareness
The University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Center studies and treats a wide range of cancers. It offers important treatment to families that need it. As for Charles’ owner treatment, the king is still battling his cancer.
“It is too early to say, but His Majesty’s medical team are very encouraged by the progress made so far and remain positive about the King’s continued recovery,” the spokesperson explained.
However, he feels “greatly encouraged to be resuming some public-facing duties and very grateful to his medical team for their continued care and expertise.” Meanwhile, Charles’ daughter-in-law Kate Middleton revealed her own cancer diagnosis after much speculation over her absence.
“At this time, I am also thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope,” she said. “You are not alone.”
