Koda, a famous Ghanaian gospel musician, has reportedly passed away at the age of 45 following an alleged battle with kidney disease.

According to PopCulture, the news broke from various media outlets, including Modern Ghana. However, there was an official confirmation by Nii Okai, a fellow gospel singer and a friend of the late musician.
“KODA has passed onto glory in the early hours of Sunday, April 21, 2024,” Okai stated to radio station Joy FM. “Let us pray for the family as we all process the news of his transition.”
No further details about the late musician’s death have been disclosed or confirmed.
MyJoyOnline also reported that KODA, whose full name was Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, was a gospel singer as well as a songwriter, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He was based in Takoradi, which is located in the Western Region of Ghana.
Among those whom he produced music for were Danny Nettey, Ps. Joe Beecham, and Okai. For his own music, he made three studio albums, two live albums, and two instrument/jazz albums. His most well-known tracks were Hossana, Nkwaa Abodo, and Adoose.
KODA was the mass choir director of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) after he graduated from the university. He had also been the director and instrumentalist of the “Music Wing of Baptist Student Union” and “KNUST’s Simply Jazz Crew,” “God’s instrument.” He was notably the lead of “Da Project.”
KODA was married to fellow singer Equrama Dua Anto. They shared three children.
Fans React to the News About KODA’s Death
Just after the news broke about KODA’s sudden passing, the musician’s fans took to social media to share their reactions.
“Oh no. No no no. OMG,” one fan wrote. “One of my favorite gospel guys. Undiluted gospel artist.”
Another fan stated the news was so sad. “I don’t know why and what is happening but God protect all of us,” they wrote. “And our loved ones out there.”
“I’ve been grooving to this song without knowing the artist,” a new fan then shared. “Sadly, I’ve only just discovered his face and name, and it’s accompanied by news of his passing. Rest in peace to him.”
Many fans also appeared to not know that KODA had been struggling with a kidney disease at the time of his death. “Oh how? Was he ill?” one fan, who was not aware of KODA’s cause of death, asked.
