In his latest Instagram post, MGK revealed that his new song Don’t Let Me Go and the tattoo is all part of the recent mental health incident.
“Lately my thoughts eating me alive / laid in the bed thinking maybe the hate’ll finally go away if I’m not alive,” Machine Gun Kelly raps at the beginning of the new song. “Wish I didn’t listen just like I wish they would understand me one time / I had a breakdown and tatted my entire body except one line / Everything’s just fine.”
The full music video, which was directed by Sam Cahill, shows MGK unveiling fresh artwork as well as the return of his pink hair. “Slippin’ again / there I go slippin’ again / I’m actin’ different again. I see my family’s reflection every time I look in the cup and I sip it again,” he sings. “After this ends/tell me after all this ends will I be mentioned again? Why do I care if in the end, it’s just me and God like I’m Christian again.”
As he continued to the song, Machine Gun Kelly sings about his relationship with Megan Fox, a miscarriage, and the death of his father. He also mentions suicidal thoughts. “I swear I’ve been tellin’ you over and over again in all of these songs,” he sings. “But they don’t hear nothin’ I’m writing ’cause they’re too busy tryin’ to write me off.”
The latest body art covers MGK’s upper chest, shoulders, and arms. It was done by tattoo artist, R O X X.
Machine Gun Kelly Previously Spoke About His Mental Health, Stating He’s ‘Sick of Smiling’ On Days When He Doesn’t Feel Like Singing
During a 2021 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Machine Gun Kelly opened up about his mental health struggles.
“I think I’m new to being vulnerable outside of songs,” he explained. “I see a lot of pictures of me and there’s like, smiles on them.”
MGK noted it’s a weird feeling for him. “Because I didn’t feel good at all that day,” he notes. “And I kind of am sick of smiling on days when I don’t feel like smiling.”
Machine Gun Kelly pointed out that he feels “odd pressure” when it comes to music. He doesn’t want fans to think he’s taking something for granted. “So if I accept an award and I’m super smiley but behind the scenes, there was stuff going on.”
Earlier that year, MGK spoke to fans about his struggles. “I’ve been in, kind of like, a f—ed up place personally for a couple of months in my head.”
He also stated in the past that anxiety was “eating” him alive.
