A Pawtucket, Rhode Island man is behind bars after he was accused of body shaming a single mom during a terrifying road rage incident last week.

According to local media outlet WHDH, the incident happened in Attleboro, Massachusetts, around 8:50 a.m. local time on Friday, Jan. 3. Law enforcement revealed that the man, identified as Gladior Kwesiah, slammed Hailea Soares headfirst into the ground. This happened after a rear-ending accident near the intersection of Rt. 1 and Rt. 1 A.
Upon their arrival, responding police officers discovered Soares in the roadway, crying and bleeding from her head. Kwesiah is now facing multiple charges after witnesses at the scene provided a video of the shocking road rage attack.
A witness claimed that he was Kwesiah banging on the roof of Soares’ vehicle and then yanked her from the driver’s seat. She was heard yelling, “Leave me alone,” before he body-slammed her.
The Road Rage Victim Speaks Out, Shares What Led to the Incident
Soares recalled details about what led to the violent moment while speaking to WHDH.
“He kept slamming on his brakes, and then when we got to the intersection, we hit a light, and he was in front of me,” she explained. “As soon as we went through, we didn’t even make it across, and he slammed on his brakes, so I hit him.”
She also spoke about the moment she was body-slammed to the ground.
“I remember thinking, ‘I’m in the air right now, I’m in the air,’” Soares recounted. “I tried to defend myself, and then he picked me up, and that was when the woman got the video of me being thrown to the ground.”
Soares also said that she was thrown to the ground a second time and could not get back up. She was transported to nearby Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Her injuries include a broken knee and foot. She also sustained injuries to her eye socket and skull.
Following his arrest, Kwesiah was taken to the Attleboro Police Station. He was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, serious injury resulting in malicious destruction of property, and operating without a license.
Attleboro Police Sergeant Kevin Sellers also released a statement about the road rage attack.
“Inappropriate and unacceptable conduct stemming from what was essentially a minor motor vehicle crash,” he noted.
Kwesiah is currently being held with a $25,000 bond.
