In September, music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was awarded the key to his hometown of New York City. It culminated with a huge ceremony in New York’s Times Square, where he was gifted the key by Mayor Eric Adams.

“This city has given me triumphs, life lessons, and love,” Combs said at the event. “Today, I accept this key not just for me. But for every dreamer, every hustler, every artist, and every kid from New York who dares to dream big.”
Diddy’s Key to New York City Could Be Revoked
But Diddy’s ownership of his key to the city could be short-lived. On May 17, CNN released shocking footage of Diddy assaulting his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura in the hallway of a Los Angeles Hotel. He is also the subject of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation. Because of all of the drama surrounding the music mogul, Mayor Adams says that Diddy’s key could be revoked.
“I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him,” Adams said.
The Mayor also added that he and the committee have never revoked a key to the city before. But in light of the recent events that option is not off the table.
“We are taking everything under analysis, and the team will come back to me with final determination,” he added.
Mayor Adams Slammed By NBA Star
Former Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving missed the first 35 games of the 2021 season after the Nets sidelined him for his decision to remain unvaccinated. During that season, the city had a mandate that required all professional players of New York sports teams to be vaccinated. And if they declined, they would only be allowed to play games for their team outside of New York City.
Mayor Adams was one of the lead people, who enforced that mandate. Something that ex-Nets star Kevin Durant was unhappy about.
“It’s ridiculous. Don’t understand it at all. I don’t get it… I don’t get it. It just feels like at this point now, somebody’s trying to make a statement or a point to flex their authority,” Durant said via Nick Friedell of ESPN.
“But everybody out here is looking for attention and that’s what I feel like the mayor wants right now, is some attention. But he’ll figure it out soon. He better.”
