According to Page Six, Princess Diana is never far from her loved one’s mind as Markle wore a similar gold necklace the late Princess of Wales wore while visiting the same country in 1991.
During their visit, Meghan Markle was spotted with Prince Harry wearing a gold necklace. Markle also wore a gold cross necklace that sources say belonged to Diana while attending a reception hosted by Christopher Musa, the chief of the Nigerian defense staff. The event honored the country’s military families.
Prior to the reception, the couple attended a volleyball game. Tiwa Akanbi, a 9-year-old girl who attended the game, told reporters that Meghan Markle had told her, “Prince Harry loves to play volleyball” and that “he’s very good at it.”
The trip to Nigeria came just after Prince Harry returned to London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
Despite Being Snubbed By His Father and Brother, Prince Harry Was Able to Reunite With the Spencer Family
Although his father King Charles III and his brother Prince William “too busy” to meet with him, the prince reunited with Prince Diana’s family.
Among the family members who met with the prince were his uncle Earl Spencer and aunt Lady Jane Fellowes. Cousins Lara Spencer, Louis Spencer, and George McConquodale were also in attendance. Speaking about the reunion, a source told Page Six, “You can see how sweet they were together.”
The Spencer family also joined Prince Harry at a reception after the Invictus Games ceremony. The event was reportedly held at the Crypt at St. Paul’s.
King Charles was hosting the first Garden Party of the year at Buckingham Palace. This event took place at the same time as the Invictus Games reception. Those who attended that event were senior working royals Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
Prince Harry’s spokesperson previously stated that his father was unable to meet with him while he was in London. This was due to scheduling conflicts. “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program.”
The spokesperson also said that the prince was understanding of his father’s commitments. He also hoped to see King Charles soon.
