The actor shared a video on Instagram on June 26 — one day before his final episode.
“I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye,” he said in the clip. “That’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone you’re gone. But I thought you all deserved better, so I just wanted to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.”
“I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here,” he continued. “I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage this past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family.”
“I won’t ever forget you. And as I walk out here for the last time, and with apologies to the great Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.”
He captioned the post, “Thank you for your kindness. My heart is filled with love and gratitude. #gh #goodbye.”
Fans React to Michael Easton Leaving ‘General Hospital’
Countless fans shared their support and sadness on Michael Easton’s departure from the show.
“I can’t imagine where they will go with this storyline that makes any sort of sense (besides the longest rehab stay in history) but it’s a real shame. I’m confused as to why they would make us fall so in love with Finn’s family and then destroy it in a week. 🤦🏽♀️,” one person wrote. “Your work will be sorely missed but we’ll all be keeping an eye out for you. Thank you for 10 awesome years of tv!”
“Reading all the love on your post makes this just so much sadder,” another said. “And you taking the time to reply means the world to so many. You really are the best . . . I really hope that knowing how much your fans and fellow actors adore you brings light and joy to you and your family. ❤️”
“I’ve been a huge fan ever since you played Tanner on Days, John McBain, Caleb,” a third person wrote. “I hope this is temporary (rehab for Finn) and then you can come back. I wish you nothing but good health and happiness. I’ll miss you gracing my TV screen. 😢❤️”
