‘Super Size Me’ Director Morgan Spurlock Dead at 53
During the filming of Super Size Me, Spurlock only ate McDonald’s food for a 30-day period. He also had to say yes whenever prompted to “super-size” his order, hence the name of the doc.
After filming, Spurlock claimed to have gained 25 pounds. He also stated that he was suffering from depression and liver dysfunction.
The film was a huge success, grossing $22 million at the global box office. It also helped start a conversation about the fast food industry and the overall health of the general public.
The documentary is still played in some health classes for students 20 years after its release.
