Days after the news broke that O.J. Simpson passed away following a battle with prostate cancer, the disgraced NFL star’s estate executor is speaking out about the civil trial payments to the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Although he was acquitted in his 1995 criminal trial for the murders of Nicole and Ron, Simpson was sued by the families of his ex-wife and her friend and was deemed liable in both deaths. He was ordered to pay $33.5 million to both families.
However, nearly 3 decades after the civil trial, the Browns and Goldmans have not received the money. And with O.J. Simpson dead, it seems his estate’s executor, Malcolm LaVergne, has no plans to ever pay the families in full.
During a recent interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, LaVergne stated he hopes the Goldmans get “zero, nothing.”
“Them specifically,” LaVergne said about the Goldmans. “And I will do everything in my capacity as the executor or personal representative to try and ensure that they get nothing.”
Speaking about why he personally does not like the Goldmans, LaVergne pointed out that the family due to their involvement in O.J. Simpson’s book, If I Did It. The Goldmans gained control over the manuscript and retitled the book If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer.
LaVergne further claimed that the Goldman family is still pursuing the wrongful death judgment, but he said there was never a court forcing O.J. Simpson to pay the $33.5 million.
Simpson previously stated that he lived only on his NFL and private pensions over the years. It was reported that hundreds of valuable possessions were seized as part of the civil trial award. The former NFL player was also forced to auction his Heisman Trophy, which sold for $230,000.
Ron Goldman’s Father Speaks Out About O.J. Simpson’s Death
In a statement to PEOPLE, Ron Goldman’s father Fred spoke out about the death of O.J. Simpson. Fred has been an outspoken critic of Simpson for nearly 30 years. He still believes the NFL star murdered his son.
“This is just a reminder for us of how long Ron has been gone, how we miss him and nothing more than that,” Fred stated. “That is the only thing that is important today. It is the pain from then until now.”
Fred reiterated that the key focus is his family missing Ron. “There is nothing today that is more important than the loss of my son and the loss of Nicole. Nothing is more important than that.”
O.J. Simpson’s children announced on Friday he had died on April 10. He was 76 at the time of his death.
