The company decided to remove Diddy’s material from their playlists after a 2016 video clip, showing the rapper beating his ex-girlfriend Cassie, was released by CNN.
“We take this issue very seriously and can confirm Peloton has paused the use of Sean Combs’ music, as well as removed the Bad Boy Entertainment Artist Series, on our platform,” Peleton wrote on a Facebook page for private members, according to TMZ.
The outlet also reports that Peloton announced that their instructors will no longer use his music in any new classes. The company issued the news following a comment from a member reading, “Dear Peloton, Your next purge needs to be all Diddy classes. Signed, women everywhere.”
Peloton Thanked Members for Reaching Out Over Concerns of the Company’s Use of Diddy’s Music
Peloton expressed their gratitude to customers for bringing the issue concerning Diddy to their attention. Diddy, who is also embroiled in several lawsuits, had multiple properties raided two months ago as part of a federal sex trafficking investigation.
“Thank you for sharing your concerns and thank you for being a member of our Peloton community,” the company wrote on Facebook.
Peloton previously removed Kanye West‘s content from its exercise programs. This was after the artist made a series of anti-Semitic remarks in 2022, according to the TMZ.
On Sunday, Diddy admitted to assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway in 2016. This followed the release of video footage by CNN. In a video apology, he expressed being “truly sorry” and acknowledged that his actions were “inexcusable.”
“I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I´m disgusted now,” Combs said in the Instagram video.
The security footage released on Friday shows Combs assaulting Cassie, an R&B singer who was his protégé and girlfriend. The video depicts Combs punching, kicking, shoving, dragging, and throwing a vase in her direction.
Cassie, legally known as Cassandra Ventura, sued Combs in November, alleging years of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. The lawsuit was settled the following day, yet it prompted significant scrutiny of Combs.
In the months that ensued, several more lawsuits were filed, coupled with a federal criminal investigation into sex trafficking. This investigation led authorities to raid Combs’ mansions in Los Angeles and Miami.
