Passengers on a JetBlue flight to New York got soaked when condensation mist decided to make a grand entrance through the air vents. A viral TikTok video by Savannah Gowarty shows passengers in astonishment as a mist envelops the cabin.

“It appears to be raining in the cabin,” a caption on the video quotes the pilot deadpanning.
“What is this?”Gowarty says in the video, water streaming down her face as fellow plane passengers are soaked. “Four-hour flight. So cold,’ she adds.
After locating her seat, Gowarty took off her wet outer shirt and draped it over an armrest, hoping it would air dry.
In the comments, TikTok denizens were baffled by the phenomenon. “Welcome to Rainforest Cafe Airlines,” one user quipped. “Oooo rainforest cafe experience but on an airplane,” a second watcher echoed.
“Vegetables in the produce section,” a third TikTok user joked.
Meanwhile, other folks who watched the viral video noted how annoyed they’d be in the same predicament.
“The way I would lose my mind if I had a fresh silk press!!”, a watcher exclaimed. “Wait imagine you just did self-tan…” another pondered.
The Plane Passengers Soaked Status Isn’t as Rare As You Might Think
Commenters were scratching their heads at the peculiar sight. However, Christopher Hennon, a professor of meteorology at Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University, begs to differ.
“Yes, this is just condensation (like fog),” Hennon told Fox News.
“The plane was likely sitting at the gate for a while with no engines running, making the air inside warm and humid,” Hennon continued. “When the engines started and the A/C was initiated, the air near the vents cooled quickly and saturated, causing the ‘smoke.’”
“This is pretty common. I’ve been on several flights where I observed this,” he explained. “The condensation dissipates fairly quickly as the air inside the cabin becomes progressively drier.”
Last year, a TikTok video also captured foggy mist enveloping the cabin of an easyJet flight, a low-cost British airline, as reported by Newsweek.
An easyJet spokesperson assured that the vapor is entirely safe.
“On board aircraft, it is sometimes possible to see the air conditioning system cooling and condensing the warm air from outside, which is what passengers could see on this flight from Nice to Gatwick. We can confirm this is completely safe for everyone on board,” the spokesperson explained. “The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority.”
