According to BBC, Harry will be stopping in London to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games on May 8. The prince, who established the sporting event, will attend the celebration as a “service of thanksgiving.”
Prince Harry will also be giving a reading with Damian Lewis at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. This is notably the first major event that the prince has attended in the UK in some time.
A spokesperson of the Invictus Games revealed to the media outlet that the 10th anniversary will mark a “decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport.”
However, the spokesperson did not say if Meghan Markle will be attending the Games’ ceremony with Prince Harry. She and Harry will be heading to Nigeria following the Games’ anniversary celebration.
This will be the first time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be visiting Nigeria as a couple. The Nigerian media revealed the couple will meet service members and families as well as participate in traditional cultural activities during their visit.
King Charles Allegedly Open to Reconciling With Prince Harry, Not Meghan Markle
With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle heading to the UK in a couple of weeks, it is being reported that King Charles remains open to reconciling with his son, but not his daughter-in-law.
According to The Mirror, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams is open to a conversation with his son, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be a “warm” conversation.
“The King has always kept the door open to Harry,” Fitzwilliams said. “But that doesn’t necessarily mean that he would invariably get a warm reception. It will take its time.”
Fitzwilliams did say that the situation has changed in recent weeks beyond all expectations. “I don’t think it would be too difficult, it depends how you define reconcile. I think there’s a long way to go before Harry is bringing over Meghan and the children.”
In regards to Markle, Fitzwilliams states that King Charles has referred to her as “toxic.” He also thinks that “trust” needs to be built before the royal would consider having an in-person meeting with her.
“I never thought that Meghan would come over because of the hostility towards her here,” Fitzwilliams noted. “But one has to emphasize that it’s obvious from the opinion polls. And of course, you’d get a press that was far from flattering, but that is linked to the Sussexes’ behavior over the last four years.”
