A former staffer revealed to PEOPLE that the prince was “upset and angry” about the rumors and conspiracy theories concerning Middleton. Despite his private feelings on the situation, the former staff said the future king of England managed to “compartmentalize” it all.
British journalist and author of Courtiers, Valentine Low, also spoke to the media outlet about Prince William’s reaction to the Kate Middleton gossip. “William is strong-minded, stubborn sometimes. That, and his emphasis on family life, will give him the backbone and strength to get through this.”
After her abdominal surgery, Kate Middleton remained behind closed doors for two months. Many speculated what had happened to her. Conspiracy theories began to circulate after she posted a heavily edited photo of her with her three children on Mother’s Day.
On March 22, Middleton came forward and publicly announced she was diagnosed with cancer. She said the cancer was detected after her surgery. She has since started preventive chemotherapy.
Along wth his wife, Prince William’s father King Charles III is also battling cancer. His diagnosis was announced before Middleton’s.
Since Kate Middleton made the announcement, Prince William has been by her side. “Whether you’re a prince or a pauper, no one would expect anything like this,” a royal source pointed out. “With his father and his wife being treated for cancer. William is digging deep.”
Royal biographer, Ingrid Seward, said William continues to remain focused on Kate. “For William, everything hinges on Kate’s well-being.”
Prince William Prioritizes Giving Kate Middleton All the Time She Needs to Recover From Cancer
While focusing on his wife’s recovery, a close source stated Prince William is prioritizing giving Kate Middleton all the time she needs to get better. He also provides support for her and their three children.
The couple is keeping a sense of normalcy by keeping a route of taking their children to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. “From what we know of their personal lives, for William and Kate, spending time with their children is the most precious and enjoyable thing they can do,” royal biographer, Robert Lacey told PEOPLE.
Meanwhile, one of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s go-to designers, Amaia Arrieta shared her thoughts about the couple’s struggles. “I’m heartbroken at the moment,” she told The Telegraph earlier this month. “I think they are going through hell.”
The designer further pointed out that she hopes the couple can bounce back from the situation. “It’s really personal,” she noted. Gushing about seeing the royal family wear her designs, Arrieta said, “Dressing the royals gives me so much pride. I really do care about how they look.”
