Royal author Robert Hardman told The Independent that the future king of England and other royal family members have allegedly been struggling with trust issues nearly a year after the release of Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare.
He stated King Charles III’s youngest son “gave away so many secrets” in the book.
Hardman also pointed out that Spare covered Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in only five pages. The author believes that the prince may release a “part two,” which will detail all that went on during the big event.
Prince Harry opened up about telling his brother William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton about Meghan Markle when he first started seeing the actress.
“I casually mentioned that there was … a new woman in my life,” Harry wrote. “They surged forward. ‘Who is she?’ [I said], ‘She’s an actress.’ ‘Oh?’ ‘She’s American.’ ‘Oh.’ ‘On a show called Suits.’ Their mouths fell open. They turned to each other. Then Willy turned to me and said, ‘F— off?’”
Prince Harry was taken aback by William’s response. But then his brother and Middleton explained their reaction. “Willy and Kate explained that they were regular—nay, religious—viewers of the legal drama,” he shared.
“All this time I’d thought Willy and Kate might not welcome Meg into the family, but now I had to worry about them hounding her for an autograph.”
However, the couple’s interest and support wavered leading up to Harry and Meghan’s wedding. Following the nuptials, the couples appeared to remain close. But then drama built up, which led to arguments and major confrontations.
Everything fell apart between the brothers when Meghan and Harry stepped down from their royal duties.
Royal Author Says King Charles is ‘Encouraged’ by His Last Meeting With Prince Harry
Meanwhile, Hardman claims that King Charles III was “encouraged” following his private meeting with Prince Harry earlier this year.
Following the news that the king was diagnosed with cancer, Harry flew back to England to see his father. Hardman said the meeting, which lasted for less than an hour, may have helped the father and son’s struggling relationship.
“I think there can be a kind of normalizing,” Hardman continued. “And I thought it was telling that when the cancer diagnosis came through back in February, Prince Harry came straight over.”
“People said why didn’t he stay longer, why didn’t he talk to his father, I mean there is so much to be worked through, but this was absolutely not the moment to have some sort of summit with Harry about all of Harry’s grievances.”
Hardman praised Prince Harry for his decision to return to England. He said the visit was very important.
“The fact he was received was important,” Hardman continued. “ I think what encouraged people at the palace and encouraged the king was the fact that afterwards, we didn’t then read about it or hear about it. It remained private.”
The relationship between Prince William and Harry seemingly remains strained.
