One week after a disturbing surveillance video showing him physically attacking Cassie Ventura at a hotel in 2016 was publicly released, Sean “Diddy” Combs insists the recording doesn’t tell the full story of what happened.

A member of the now-infamous rapper’s inner circle told The Post that he is adamant there’s more to the story than what the video showed.
“He’s incensed,” the source said. “Especially about the video. He insists it doesn’t tell the full story about what happened. Not that he’s excusing it, but he says that it’s a selected video.”
The insider continued by stating Diddy believes there was an “agenda” in releasing the video of him beating his former on-and-off girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. The couple were romantically linked for nearly a decade before calling it quits for good.
“It’s his position that there was an agenda in releasing the video when it was released,” the source explained. “But ultimately, he knows that his big concern is the raids on his house; the Cassie video is just a distraction.”
Released by CNN on May 19, the surveillance video shows Diddy physically assaulting Cassie Ventura in a hallway of the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century, Los Angeles in March 2016.
Appearing with just a towel wrapped around his waist, Diddy is seen grabbing Ventura by the neck and throwing her to the ground. He then kicks her numerous times before throwing something at her. The assault came to an end after someone walked out of the elevator.
Cassie Ventura previously filed a lawsuit against Diddy in Nov. 2023. She accused him of rape and abuse. Although he denied the allegations, Diddy and Ventura settled one day after the filing.
Diddy Previously Apologized for His Actions Toward Cassie Ventura in the Surveillance Video
Along with the surveillance video, Diddy made headlines after he publicly apologized for his actions toward Cassie Ventura in the surveillance video.
In the apology, which was posted on Instagram, Diddy said it’s “so difficult” to reflect on the “darkest times” of his life. “I f— up. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses.”
He also referred to his actions as being inexcusable. “I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. They’re disgusting. I was disgusted then when I did it, I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought professional help.”
Diddy further revealed that sought therapy after he assaulted Cassie Ventura at the hotel. “I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I am truly sorry.”
Ventura has since spoken out about the surveillance video, stating she appreciates the support she has received. She then added that domestic violence is the key issue.
“It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past.”
