The video, which was first reported on by CNN, surfaced on Friday, May 17, showing the famed rapper beating Ventura at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century, Los Angeles in March 2016.
Stepping out of his room wearing just a towel, Combs was seen confronting Ventura near an elevator by grabbing her by the neck and throwing her to the ground. He proceeded to kick her multiple times and threw items at her. The hallway assault seemingly stopped after someone walked out of the elevator.
In his latest Instagram video post, with the caption, “I’m truly sorry,” Diddy spoke out about what occurred in that video.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times of your life,” Combs stated. “But sometimes you gotta do that. I f—- up. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses.”
Sean “Diddy” Combs said his behavior in the video was inexcusable. “I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. They’re disgusting. I was disgusted then when I did it, I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought professional help.”
Diddy also said that he went to therapy after the hotel ordeal. “I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I am truly sorry.”
Instagram users immediately questioned the authenticity of the apology. “Why wasn’t this apology posted after Cassie came forward?” one user wrote. They were referring to the lawsuit Ventura filed against Diddy in November 2023.
Another added, “He is only sorry he got caught. He denied this in the beginning so his words are worthless.”
