Sources close to Combs revealed to NBC News that his legal team was notified at the end of June by federal authorities in the Southern District of New York that he is a subject of an ongoing criminal investigation.
The same insiders also confirmed that a federal grand jury is now hearing the investigation’s evidence. However, there has yet to be any indication that charges are imminent for the now-infamous rapper.
Although a subject in the investigation, Sean “Diddy” Combs has not been designated as a target. If/when he does become a target, prosecutors will likely intend to seek an indictment from the grand jury against him.
Sean Diddy Combs’ legal woes began in late 2023. His ex, Cassie Ventura, filed a short-lived lawsuit against him for sexual abuse and sex trafficking. The lawsuit was dismissed within 24 hours of its filing. However, Combs had continuously discredited Ventura’s allegations.
Months after the lawsuit was filed and dismissed, a surveillance video of the rapper beating Ventura at a hotel in 2016 publicly surfaced, proving that he was abusive towards her during their on-and-off relationship.
Diddy took to Instagram to apologize for his actions in the video. He also admitted that the events took place and he took “full responsibility.”
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” Combs stated. “I was f—ed up — I mean, I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses.”
After Ventura’s lawsuit, Sean “Diddy” Combs was hit with multiple civil lawsuits against him. After being accused of sex trafficking in a former employee’s lawsuit, Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Miami were raided.
Former Adult Film Star Files Lawsuit Against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs For Sex Trafficking
On Wednesday, July 3, former adult film star Adria English filed a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs. She claimed he groomed her into sex trafficking as an employee, starting in 2004.
In her claim, English alleges that Combs had “laced the liquor with ecstasy” and gave strict instructions on which bottles to drink from. She also claimed she was sex-trafficked by Combs as well as Tamika Thomas and Jacob Arabov between 2004 and 2009.
English’s legal petition is the 10th lawsuit that has been filed against Diddy since Nov. 2023. His legal team released a statement to Fox News Digital denying the latest allegations.
“No matter how many lawsuits are filed it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone,” Combs’ attorney, Jonathan Davis, shared in the statement.
“We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason and without any proof. Fortunately, a fair and impartial judicial process exists to find the truth and Mr. Combs is confident he will prevail against these and other baseless claims in court.”
