While making an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, Gomez said the incident occurred at the 2024 Emmy Awards last month. “He looked at me and I started waving,” she explained. The Only Murders in the Building star then said she began waving back because she is a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother.
“This is kind of embarrassing. This is such a weird habit, but every night I fall asleep to the same show,” Selena Gomez continued. “It’ll either be Friends or something comfy. But lately, it’s How I Met Your Mother. So I fall asleep every night just watching the show and I’m a fan.”
However, Gomez went on to “slowly realize” that Segel actually wasn’t waving at her. He was directing his attention to someone behind her. The awkwardness continued when he approached her at the award show. “He felt awkward and then inclined to come over,” Gomez pointed out. And then my boyfriend goes, ‘Oh, she falls asleep to you every night.’”
Learning how to power through the awkwardness, Selena Gomez shared details about her current night routine with Segel. “I was like, ‘That’s weird! but I do!”
In early December 2023, Selena Gomez announced she was in a relationship with Benny Blanco. The duo had been dating for at least six months at the time.
Selena Gomez Reveals Her Relationship With Benny Blanco Is ‘The Safest’ She Feels
Also during an interview with Zane Lowe last week, Selena Gomez spoke about her relationship with Benny Blanco.
“Without getting into too much detail, I think it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you,” she explained. “And I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world that I live in. But I’d have to say overall it’s the safest that I feel and it’s been really lovely and I’ve only grown through it, so it’s awesome.”
Selena Gomez further stated when it comes to who to work with, she doesn’t feel very safe in a lot of rooms. “But I find that when I work with new people, it’s actually really fun to connect on what they’re walking through in life. And it’s like, oh, working with some great songwriters who know friends of friends and things like that. But I think it’s also important that I stay with my core group because they’re the people who can crack the code with me the best.”
