In an Instagram post on Monday, June 17, Omar shared an image of a medical bracelet as he shared details about the diagnosis.
“Today yes, but tomorrow I won’t have cancer,” Don Omar captioned an image translated from Spanish. “Good intentions are well received. See you soon. #f—cancer.”
In his latest Instagram post, which was published less than 24 hours after his announcement, the rapper declared, “I woke up today cancer free and grateful. Thank you for your good wishes, prayers, and thousands of messages. My surgery was a success now to recover.”
The cancer news came just hours after Don Omar posted a video of dancer auditions for the second leg of his Back to Reggaetón tour.
“The most special thing about today’s auditions is seeing that there are people who want to dare to dream with me,” Don Omar shared in a post on Saturday, June 15. “Thank you to each of you who gave your all on the dance floor! This second stage of the tour comes with everything.”
Despite the diagnosis and treatment, it appears that Omar plans to push through and continue as planned for the tour.
The first performance of the tour’s second leg will be on August 7 in Oakland, California. Other stops are El Paso, Texas, Los Angeles, California, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Boston, Massachusettes. The final show will be on September 16 in Belmont Park, New York.
Don Omar Recently Ended His Longtime Feud With Fellow Rapper Daddy Yankee
Months before announcing his cancer diagnosis, Don Omar revealed that he had finally ended his longtime feud with fellow rapper, Daddy Yankee.
Omar took to Instagram with a picture of Daddy Yankee as he shared the news. “Today we close the book that kept the best chapters of our controversial rivalry,” he wrote.
“Thank you for your words and for listening to mine that came from the heart as well. I wish you the best for you and your family. Thank you for your competitiveness and admirable discipline but even more thank you for what you did for our music.”
Don Omar also thanked Daddy Yankee for collaborating and competing with him. “I did it with a titan,” Omar stated. “I keep the good memories, the laughs, the dreams together and the desire for a last round with such a great adversary.”
“We will meet again soon because I owe you a hug and thank you in person. In the meantime, long live King Daddy.”
