During a recent interview with British Vogue, the Game of Thrones star spoke about reports circulating amid the divorce alleging she left the girls to go party. “Those were the worst few days of my life,” Turner admitted. She also pointed out that she is a good mother and she has never been a partier.
Sophie Turner then said that the articles about her divorce from Joe Jonas came out as she was filming Joan in Europe. “I was on set, I was contracted to be on set for another two weeks, so I couldn’t leave. My kids were in the States and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish [filming].”
She continued to say that the situation hurt her because she completely tortured herself over every move she made as a mother. “Mum guilt is so real!” she declared. “I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true.’”
After she finished filming, Sophie Turner returned to the United States to undergo mediation with Joe Jonas. The former couple, who married in May 2019, reached an “amicable” custody resolution in October 2023.
However, less than six months later, Turner filed to “reactivate” their divorce. This was after there were failed attempts to settle child custody and property.
She describes Willa and Delphine to be “victims” of the divorce.
Sophie Turner Opens Up About Co-Parenting While Discussing Her Split From Joe Jonas
As she continued to discuss her split from Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner shared a co-parenting update.
“I’m unhappy with the way everything played outside,” she admitted. “Especially when it comes to my children. But I think we’re doing the best we can.”
Sophie Turner also said she’s confident that she and Joe Jonas will figure out the co-parenting situation. “Joe is a great father to the children,” she noted. “And that’s all I can ask for.”
She then reflected on her journey as a mother and revealed how she reacted to being pregnant with her first daughter. “Maybe because I was so young,” she explained her reaction. “I sat on [my positive test] for a week. Thankfully there were therapists there to help me talk things through. I told my husband when I got back [from a retreat in Bali].”
Sophie Turner said she “threw” the pregnancy test at Joe Jonas and asked him if they should have the baby. She noted that before becoming a parent her life had been “frivolous.”
“I really didn’t know if I wanted to be a mother,” she went on to add. “But something changed in me that day. I just knew I had to have her.”
Willa was born in July 2020. Delphine arrived two years later.
