Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are taking legal action after losing their Pacific Palisades home in the California wildfires. On Tuesday, the couple, along with 20 other victims, filed a lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles and the L.A. Department of Water and Power. They claim problems with the city’s water supply contributed to the destruction of their homes and properties.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, the plaintiffs in the case argue that the nearby Santa Ynez Reservoir was offline and empty when the fires broke out. The reservoir is a crucial resource to firefighting efforts in the area but was reportedly closed for repairs.
The plaintiffs argue that the city’s failure to provide adequate water supply constitutes a “taking” of their property without proper compensation. They are seeking compensation for property damage, lost income, living expenses, and legal costs.

Pratt has documented the couple’s heartbreaking loss on TikTok.
“It really just comes in waves,” Montag said tearfully in one clip. “I just really want to go home. I want to see all my stuff and sit on my couch. I’m so homesick.”
The couple and their sons — Gunner, 7, and Ryker, 2 — evacuated with minimal possessions and are now faced with rebuilding their lives from scratch.
“The craziest thing when packing for a fire is that you’re brain just freaks out,” Montag shared in another video. “You’re like, ‘What do I need? What do I not need?’ It’s so overwhelming.”
Montag revealed that she only packed two pairs of jeans and two shirts.
“I got so much more clothes for the kids,” she admitted. “The main thing is that we’re safe and got out. A part of you just wants to leave stuff, thinking like, ‘I’m coming back. You know, ‘of course I’m coming back.'”

In between emotional moments, however, the couple found a unique way to raise funds for their new life.
With the help of famous friends and followers, Pratt spearheaded a campaign to get Montag’s 2010 album Superficial and its titular single to No.1 on the charts.
The former Hills star shared dozens of fans’ videos on his social, including remixes and collabs. He was brought to tears more than once by the outpouring of support and love the couple have received in the wake of the fire.
“We spent all our money on this album.… For it to finally get friggin’ number one in America 15 years after?” Pratt said on TikTok, bursting into genuine sobs. “It feels so good.”
