TMZ reported that a disgruntled traveler seemingly provoked four Spirit Airlines employees into a physical altercation.
Footage from the incident appears to show an irate traveler preparing for a confrontation, only to be quickly overpowered by four men in Spirit Airlines uniforms. They surrounded him with punches and kicks, ultimately subduing him in a heap on the terminal floor.
The man confronts the desk, but he is caught off guard when a group of individuals—seemingly Spirit employees based on their uniforms—rush out from behind the counter and start throwing punches, swiftly overpowering him.
From that point, the Spirit Airlines brawl escalates into a brutal beating, with the group of fighters delivering a barrage of punches and kicks to the man lying prone on the terminal floor. Held down, he is subjected to a series of relentless blows.
Throughout the video, the group primarily focuses on restraining the other individual, culminating in one of them delivering a cheap shot right at the end.
The Internet Weighs in on Spirit Airlines Brawl
Of course, denizens of X (formerly Twitter) had a lot to say about the Spirt Airlines brawl.
“Spirit is the “MetroPCS” of Airlines,” one X user quipped. “That’s what happens when the airport Auntie Anne’s runs out of pretzels,” another joked.
Another X user pointed out the absurdity of losing your cool at the airport. “Fighting in the airport is crazy because now you have charges and a lifetime greyhound pass,” they wrote.
However, other X users noticed a semblance to this throwdown and ones routinely seen at Waffle House.
“I see an opportunity for Spirit Airlines to cross-promote or partner with Waffle House,” a savvy PR fan noted. “Waffle House has the same logo color scheme too. “Black and Yellow, Black and yellow”, another user agreed.
The exact cause of the altercation or the disgruntled traveler’s complaint against the airline remains unclear. The Maryland Transportation Authority informed TMZ that one individual sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Meanwhile, a representative from Spirit Airlines clarified that the four individuals in airline attire were not direct employees but were affiliated with a third-party contractor partnered with the airline. The representative further noted that these four workers have been suspended and that an investigation is currently underway.
