Angus MacInnes has died. His family confirmed the news inn a post to the actor’s official Facebook page. MacInnes was 77.

The post did not reveal MacInnes’ cause of death. However, it noted that he died “peacefully, surrounded by his family and love” on Dec. 23.
“Angus was more than an actor—he was a kind, thoughtful, and generous soul who brought warmth and humor into the lives of everyone who knew him,” the post read. “He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and fellow actors but also by his fans around the world—his family thank you all.”
MacInnes’ work spanned decades, with roles in films including Star Wars: A New Hope, Witness, Judge Dredd, and Captain Phillips.
“His work touched countless lives, and he took great pride in being part of these stories that continue to resonate with audiences worldwide,” MacInnes’ family’s statement read, before discussing why his Star Wars appearance held “a special place in his heart.”
“He loved meeting you at conventions, hearing your stories, and sharing in your passion for the saga,” the statement read. “He was continually humbled, delighted, and honoured by the admiration and passion of the fans and convention community.”
MacInnes’ final film appearance was related to the franchise. His character, Jon “Dutch” Vander, a.k.a. “Gold Leader,” had a voice cameo in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
