The beloved songstress swapped her former pictures for a black-and-white portrait that shows her gazing into a flame flickering from an old-school lighter, which appears on the cover of Midnight. The picture itself is the same as the one that graced her profiles before—It’s the coloring that changed.
The sometimes mysterious songstress typically gives cryptic hints when she’s about to make a move. So Swifties are losing their minds with speculation.
The biggest and most hoped-for speculation is that Swift is about to debut the “Taylor version” of Reputation. As her fans may know, Swift’s former label, Big Machine, which was bought out by Ithaca Holdings, owns the rights to her songs recorded between 2015 and 2018.
She fought behind the scenes to regain control of her music, but she wasn’t able to.
Could Taylor Swift Be Making an Announcement During the Grammys?
Taylor Swift did find a loophole, though. She has been slightly changing her records and dropping them with her new label, Republic Records. Whenever her original songs stream, Ithaca Holdings gets a massive profit. Swift wasn’t happy about the company profiting off her, so her fans now know to listen to the new cuts—and Swift gets sweet revenge. Swift also ensured that no one would ever have ownership over her future work.
The last time Swift changed her profile picture to black and white was right before she dropped Reputation in 2017. So the pieces seem to be coming together.
“I think #TaylorSwift is about to take her “Reputation” back,” a fan cheered on X. “Profile picture has turned grayscale. Something is coming, and I am ‘Ready for it.'”
Some people are even wondering if Taylor Swift is planning on making her announcement during tonight’s Grammy Awards ceremony, where she has six nominations.
“Taylor Swift changes her profile picture just before Grammy Awards ceremony– Reputation fans, are you watching?” asked OTT Play.
We don’t know exactly what Taylor Swift is up to, but we’re with the other Swifties—it probably has something to do with her fan-favorite album. Tune into the Grammys at 8 p.m. ET to find out more!
