Not long after Team Michael contestant Tanner Frick unexpectedly quit The Voice, Team Gwen’s Mor Ilderton also ended his time on the show during the final Knockout round.
His coach, Gwen Stefani, revealed to her “Mega Mentor” Sting that her team now consisted of Jan Dan and Sydney Sterlace.
“We had Mor, who I stole, but he had to go home,” Gwen Stefani shared with The Voice mentor, per Deadline. “So it’s just gonna be the two of them.”
Despite the loss of Iderton, Team Gwen’s Sydney Sterlace made it through to the Playoffs. Stefani also ended up saving Jan Dan, pushing them through to the next round.
Iderton performed his blind audition for the show with Dylan Gossett’s “Coal.” He received chair turns from Bublé, Snoop Dogg, and Reba McEntire.
However, while he initially picked Team Bublé, The Voice longtime coach Gwen Stefani quickly stole him away.
“I just got this feeling like, I know what to do with that guy,” Stefani explained after hitting her “Steal” button. “My favorite thing about Mor’s voice is it just has a unique, raspy undone tone. When you hear music out there, his voice feels like what’s happening right now in the world.”
Although the reason behind his sudden departure from The Voice, Iderton has been promoting his upcoming single “Stranger,” which will be released on Friday, Nov. 22.
The First ‘The Voice’ Season 26 Dropout Occurred One Week Earlier
Shortly before the start of the “Knockout” rounds, The Voice host Carson Daly told coach Michael Bublé that Frick quit. “Michael, Tanner [Frick] left the competition after rehearsals. You still have Cameron [Wright] and Sloane [Simon],” Daly told Bublé.
Daly also stated that Frick had “left the competition after rehearsals.”
Frick also didn’t reveal exactly what made him quit the show. However, he did post a video on TikTok singing in a recording booth. “Ain’t nobody want me anyway,” he wrote in the post’s caption.
The former contestant caused a covenant four-chair-turn while auditioning with Morgan Wallen’s “Thought You Should Know.” He decided to join Team Reba.
“Tanner, I thought you sang really, really well. I love that song,” Reba stated following Frick’s blind audition. “When you did that Chris Stapleton growl, it just added so much dimension to your voice.”
Unfortunately, it seemed like his days on the show were done after going up against fellow country singer Tate Renner during the Battle rounds. The contestants performed Jelly Roll’s “Need a Favor.” Reba ended up dubbing Renner the winner.
Bublé didn’t think twice about saving Frick, referring to him as a “huge win” for his team.
“Tanner Frick was a huge win for me,” Bublé proudly declared. “That’s a former four-chair turn and a piece of the puzzle that I didn’t have.”
Bublé continued to praise Frick by stating, “I needed that country singer and now I feel like I’m completely in the game. It’s a brave new world we’re about to head into.”
