During an appearance on her daughter Brandi’s podcast Sorry We’re Stoned, Tish opened up about how her style of parenting would have possibly improved if she had done weed.
“I didn’t smoke pot when I had kids. I didn’t start smoking until I was like, 46,” she explained. “And so I think I would’ve been a better parent if I would’ve smoked then. I think I would’ve been… like, I don’t know, school projects, I would’ve felt more fun.”
Brandi also said that her mother would have likely been “much more tolerant” if she had smoked. “I was just like, ‘Argh!’ And so I really do wish I had smoked then,“ Tish Cyrus declared.
The mother-daughter duo, with rapper Wiz Khalifa, then spoke about how Miley used to do weed before she quit. “She loved weed. And at that time, I didn’t smoke weed,” Tish explained. “And I was not happy with her.”
Tish Cyrus Had a ‘Complete Psychological Breakdown’ Before Her Divorce From Billy Ray
In early February, Tish Cyrus opened up to PEOPLE about the “complete psychological breakdown” she experienced just before she divorced her husband of nearly 30 years, Billy Ray.
“I’m over 50, I’ll be 57 this year. And when I literally was going through my divorce and trying to make that decision of stepping out of a 30-year marriage, I was terrified mostly,” Tish explained.
Brandi, who was promoting her new podcast, said, “And she really thought it was over.”
Tish Cyrus replied that she thought she was going to be alone forever. “And that was one of the times that I had the crippling breakdown of anxiety. I joke about it and say I had a complete psychological breakdown.”
Tish then explained there were 30 days where she was not eating and sleeping. She also just felt like she was coming out of her skin. “And it was really scary,” she continued.
Tish Cyrus went on to add that she understands why other women struggle to leave a longtime marriage at her age. “I get why women are scared to leave, not only bad relationships, [but to] step into new careers and all these things.”
“And I was literally terrified. I would love to just be this poster child for women our age and just be like, I promise you starting over sometimes is the best thing you can ever do. It’s been great for me.”
